The government of the AhNiYvWiYa ah-ni-gu-ta-ni is as it has always been and not patterned after the white man's government. The basic structure is according to the ancient people and is:
Chief – not a principle chief, assistant chief, sub-chiefs but a Chief.
Tribal Council – is made up of representatives of each of the true seven clans
of our people.
Medicine Men – spiritual advisors
Voices of the Elders who are listened to with respect.
Secretary, treasurer and other offices are appointed by the Tribal Council.
Other offices or people are selected as needed.
(A Red Chief was only selected in time of war and served only in time of war. He did not take the place of the White Chief. )
Tribal Council convenes on the first Sunday of each Month unless otherwise scheduled.
Every thing decided by the Tribal Council must follow Tribal Tradition.
The Chief is the protector of the Culture. The Tribal Council governs the Tribal Lands. The Medicine Men are in charge of Ceremonial events. The language is taught to new members who do not know the language.
In every Tribal Council, gathering or event Cultural Tradition is absolutely followed. Arguing, over talking another when they are speaking, loud or abusive language is not tolerated, drug or alcohol are not permitted on the Tribal Lands. If a person comes and is drinking or in a drug induced state, they will be ushered off of the Tribal Lands.
Tribal Culture of the AhNiYvWiYa ah-ni-gu-ta-ni, ceremonial dances, etc. are different from other Tribes. The central thread which runs through the entire culture is balance and harmony. If observed spiritually, each person will find peace, balance, harmony in their own lives, their family and the Tribal community.
